Record of Decision
After the Draft and Final Environmental Impact Statements are published and comments have been incorporated, a final decision on the Proposed Action is documented in the Record of Decision (ROD). The Army issues the ROD after a 30-day waiting period. The Notice of Availability of the ROD is then published in the Federal Register.
All significant environmental information and public issues of concern, disclosed in the Environmental Impact Statement, will be considered in selecting one of the proposed action alternatives. The ROD will clearly and definitively articulate the decision made and provide a supporting decision while answering the reason for why the final alternative best meets the purpose and need. The comparative environmental impacts and benefits of the decision will be identified, particularly if the alternative chosen is not the environmentally preferred alternative. The ROD will also be available for public review.
